Norfolkline receives the ShipPax Award for Outstanding Ferry Concept of 2005
May 2nd, 2006
Norfolkline has been rewarded for being a trendsetter within the passenger shipping industry with its new purpose built Ro-Pax vessel Maersk Dunkerque.
Maersk Dunkerque is the first of the three state-of-the art Scandinavian designed vessels built to provide superior service across the channel. Within a crossing time of just 1 hour and 50 minutes between Dover and Dunkerque, passengers car travel in spacious comfort, have a leisurely meal, relax in a lounge bar and other areas specially designed for motorists and freight passengers.
“Combining efficiency with elegance and comfort as well as maintaining continuity with the owner's renowned design consciousness, this ship (Maersk Dunkerque) is classically nautical without recourse to frivolous or inappropriate idioms, yet definitely in touch with the Twenty First Century ideals and life styles."
Maersk Dunkerque and her sister ship Maersk Delft are currently deployed on the English Channel between Dover and Dunkerque , turning channel crossing into a pleasant experience both for freight customers and passengers. The third ship is expected to enter service this summer.
The award is given to the ship owner, to the shipyard and the designer.
